HIKING: Barn Bluff

← MN CLEAR LAKE EAST SIDE PRAIRIE ISLAND MNSW08 Triple Blaze →

Description

Barn Bluff is a gorgeous limestone bluff that juts up about 400 feet above the Mississippi river below, and about 200 feet above the nearby city of Red Wing. The back side of the bluff is densely forested, but much of the front side and top consist of a large grassy meadow, which naturally offers incredible views of Red Wing and the surrounding area!
This hike is short, but it can be steep in places, but the tough climb is well-worth the views!
This is also a very popular spot with rock climbers who enjoy the cliffs on the eastern end and northern side of the bluff.
